Environment Policy
At Skymark, we believe in taking a holistic approach to working in harmony with our environment. Our aim is to reduce any negative environmental impacts from our processes and products. We regularly monitor all of our processes and storage areas across the group to ensure legal compliance is maintained. All of our transportation is means tested to optimize the use of resources and to reduce the numbers of journeys made.
The main site at Leominster is ISO14001 accredited, this is a stand alone environmental standard. We have an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit. This covers all operations and conditions on site. This IPPC permit works in conjunction with the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
The remaining two sites in the group, Scunthorpe and Ilkeston both work to the same high environmental standards, with Ilkeston being BRC accredited.
All three of our sites have individual Climate Change Levy Agreements; this demonstrates our commitment to do as much as we can to reduce the affects of Climate Change.
We place great importance in reclaiming and recycling as much on site waste arisings as is possible, for example, plain and coloured film, banding material, paper, cardboard, metals, inks and solvents, oils and redundant computer items. Our recycling system ensures that we recover and reuse as much waste inks and solvent as possible these are externally recycled and returned for re-use.
We have invested in modern reclaiming equipment; this is to ensure that the recycled polymer is of the highest grade for reuse and will fulfil the demand for recovering and recycling packaging waste. We are an accredited waste reprocessor.
Most of Skymark's polyethylene products can be supplied in a bio-degradable format. These compostable products will disintegrate within the desired period when buried in landfill conditions, thereby reducing our impact on landfill.
